Palm Sunday Celebration. Please join us — and bring some friends — for our Palm Sunday Celebration on Sunday, March 25. We will kick off the celebration with a Donkey Procession at 9:45am, followed by Worship at 10:00am. Afterwards, you are invited to bring a side and/or dessert to share at our Potluck Lunch (Share Team will provide the meat and tea). Then at 1:00pm, we will begin games and activities, including inflatables, a petting zoo, crafts, palm crosses and more. Then we will end the day with our Easter Egg Hunt (CANDY DONATIONS NEEDED). We will also have a Bake Sale if you would like to cook - or buy a tasty treat. This will be a wonderful way to begin Holy Week, so we hope you will join us and invite others to come as well!

CPR Class. Be prepared to save a life. On Thursday, March 22 at 6:00pm, one of the medics from the Southside Fire Department will be here to host a CPR Class for anyone interested, including Infant/Child CPR. This class is free, but to apply for official CPR Certification, there will be a $20 fee. Please sign up in the narthex if you would like to attend.
Prayer Walk. Sadly, school shootings are becoming increasing common. As a church, we have become burdened to take action with our best weapon -- prayer. We want our teachers & children to know that we love them and are praying for them, therefore our church will host a community-wide Prayer Walk on Sunday, April 8 at 2:00pm to pray for our schools in the Southside community. Save the date and plan to join us as we cover our schools in prayer.
EXIT 456, the North Alabama Conference’s annual retreat for “tweens” (4th-6th graders), was March 9-10, 2018, at Camp Sumatanga. This year’s retreat involved a record number of participants — 471 from 33 different churches in North Alabama and one church from the Alabama-West Florida Conference.
The Exit 456 retreat is designed to aid local churches in ministry to tweens. It can serve as a retreat for confirmands or simply as a tween retreat. The worship and teaching times are designed so that 4th-6th graders can attend for three years and enjoy a new, exciting experience each year.
This year’s theme was “Identity” based on the theme verse of Galatians 2:20. During the event tweens listened to five different talks about how they were "Made in God's Image" and wonderfully and uniquely created. They were challenged and encouraged to seek their identity in Christ rather than the world.
Glory sightings from the weekend include the following:
54 students made a first time decisions to follow Jesus or to recommit their lives.
A love offering raised $750 for this year’s Annual Conference Special Offering for Ethnic Ministries
Exit 456 Team Leader Mike Arnold says, “The Exit 456 team would like to thank Camp Sumatanga for the great hospitality and all the churches who prayed for the retreat prior as well as during the event. We are already looking forward to 2019 when we will get ‘Messy’ for Jesus.”
